SECRET UNDERWATER TUNNEL

for 52 Tales Exhibition

52 Tales is a collection of narrative illustrations depicting legends, passions, facts and folklore on Singapore. From the story of how Redhill got its name to the reason the Singapore Flyer rotates upstream, over 200 local and international artists co-created to give their own spin to each uniquely Singapore tale.

In this exhibition, we have 52 stories (illustrations) printed in poker cards and book. I am pleasure to participate this meaningful exhibition to tell people more stories about Singapore. The story I illustrated is about Singapore Secret Underwater Tunnel.

SECRET UNDERWATER TUNNEL
Dotted around the greenery of Labrador Park are relics of war such as machine gun posts and ammunition storage in the site of this former fort which was completed in 1878. Numerous tunnels remain embedded within the area and rumours have it that one of these tunnels leads to the fort in Sentosa via a secret underwater passageway. Today, a sealed entrance can be seen at Labrador Park, fuelling these tales. On one side, a fortress and below it, the depths of the oceans where we drew the entrance of this subterranean link.
